buitenlandse stage dag 1

03 April 2017 | Duitsland, Münster
Today was the first day of my internship at Tascon. Tascon is a company in Münster that does SIMS and LEIS analysis. The first day was of course filled with introductions with the people and explanations about how the company and the software works. The company gave me a mentor to help me through this week. He was also helping a masters student who was also there for an internship. Together we were taught the basics of SIMS, how to calibrate the spectra and how to do an analysis. After we learned how to do an analysis and how to calibrate the spectra we went to the Mensa to get our lunch. When we finished we walked back to Tascon and we did some measurements on a few easy samples. We had a pen which could write on one end and the other end could erase it. The writing could then be retrieved by putting it in the refrigerator. We wanted to find out what was happening with the stuff we wrote down with the pen when we erased it so we analyzed it with TOF-SIMS. By this time the day had ended (about 2 hours ago) and I went home. Just before I left the major of enschede had arrived at Tascon to talk about making it easier to find jobs across the border so that the unemployment in border areas would improve.
